You can’t beat an eating disorder without eating disorder treatment. Period. An eating disorder is not a choice. No one ever decides to suffer from anorexia or bulimia. By the same token, no one can ever simply decide to get better. Eating disorders result from concrete pathological roots, which can only be eradicated with competent clinical care. The good news is that the right eating disorder treatment program can make a world of difference. The only catch is that you have to seek it out.
Remember, no one can help you if you refuse to be helped. Eating disorder treatment doesn’t work by magic. If you’re going to get better, it’s going to be because you find the courage to enroll in a treatment facility. Make no mistake, the day you start eating disorder treatment is the day you start rediscovering life as you used to know it, and yourself as you used to be. All you have to do is make the right choice. Given the stakes, any other course of action is simply unacceptable.
