Nobody ever talks about Demerol addicts. Demerol isn’t a sexy drug, like cocaine or ecstasy. It isn’t a sensationalized drug, like heroin or crack. It’s just Demerol. And Demerol addicts are just Demerol addicts. Nothing to see here; no headlines worthy of the 6 o’clock news.
Unless, of course, Demerol addiction happens to you.
Demerol is no less dangerous than any other addictive substance. Demerol addicts are in no less dire straights than crackheads, or heroin junkies. Demerol addiction, like all forms of addiction, turns individuals into shells of their former selves, leaves them utterly incapable of relating to anything other than their need to use. Demerol abuse, simply put, ruins lives. And pretending that it doesn’t…just ignoring the problem…damn well won’t make it go away.
The good news is that drug treatment can help you get better. But here’s the thing: You’ve got to seek it out first. No Demerol treatment center in the world can do anything for you until you walk through its front door. Please, for you own sake, let today be the day you make the right decision. With so much to lose, and so much more to win, you can’t afford to do anything else.
