My painkiller addiction could have taken my life, but I got help and it didn’t. It didn’t really happen just like that, unfortunately. It actually took a lot longer to get to the point where I got help and all that jazz. It started when I got in a car accident a few years back. I sustained a great deal of painful injuries and the doctor thought that it would be a good idea to prescribe some painkiller medication to help me out. He was right because the pain was unbearable and I needed something. The problem was that I started needing more than what I had. It started when the dosages that I had been given started becoming inadequate to make the pain I was feeling bearable and I eventually started needing higher dosages. That’s where the problems started. I knew that there was definitely a problem developing and something had to be done. I tried to ween myself off of the pills, but I started feeling some of the signs of withdrawal. My wife and I finally decided to find a place that could give me help for my painkiller addiction and get me back on track. So, that’s what we did. We got me some help and here I stand a brand new man.
